Welcome to my first cocktail + glass feature! I’ve had this idea in my brain since the inception of GreenariVintage.com but have always been so quick to jump from mixing to drinking that the idea of pausing to snap a pic never popped into my head until too late. Tonight, I’m ending that streak (at least for one night) and enjoying the first few sips of my cocktail while sharing it with you.

To start, I’d like to offer up what I’m cheers-ing to tonight.

Cheers to the end of my work week. Cheers to my favorite cocktail being the inaugural share. Cheers to my first drink out of a glass I’ve been stalking on eBay + Etsy for years to find – the Georges Briard boxing glass (I’m still looking for three more glasses + the boxing ring tray to complete the set, if anyone has a tip). Cheers to Sly Stallone and Rocky, my idol(s) and the reason this GB glass was a unicorn for me, as well as the reason I even made this drink in the first place way back when. And most importantly, cheers to my friend Norman who delivered a gut-wrenching reminder that no day is guaranteed.

I told myself I’d never drink out of this glass bc I was too scared to break it. This week I learned that no matter how careful we are, glasses can still break. So tonight, I lift this one to Norm. Normie. Bubbie. Bubs.

And now the drink …

Italian Stallion

This drink is a whiskey play on the Negroni and adapted (based on frequent libations, sometimes limited resources + sometimes laziness) from the recipe in The Cocktail Bible: Traditional and Modern Cocktails for Every Occasion.

Add 4-6 ice cubes to shaker. Pour in 2 measures bourbon, 1 measure Campari and 1/2 measure sweet (or dry if that’s all you have on-hand DON’T JUDGE ME) vermouth. Shake well to mix, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Dash with Angostura bitters and lemon juice.

Enjoy.

Repeat at least once for best results.
