Thrift Haul 5/23/25: Horse Statue, Classic Paperbacks and Fortune Telling

Made a quick pit stop at my favorite Goodwill store after working an estate sale today.

Here’s what I grabbed for just under $10.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey

Paid $1.91
*this one’s staying with me for now*

Exciting find! I’ve been wanting to read this one ever since watching Nurse Ratched now but this is the first time I’ve seen it on the thrift shelves.

Poirot Investigates by Agatha Christie

Paid $0.95
Selling for $8

I saw a huge collection of vintage Christie paperbacks at a Goodwill a few months ago, and went back + forth debating whether I should get them or not. I ended up leaving them and have been regretting it. This is the first I’ve seen since then, so it had to come home with me.

Metal Horse Figurine / Statue

Paid $4.09
Selling for $32

Not sure on the metal here … not brass. Pewter, maybe? Also no makers mark.

Aynsley Nelros Style Cup of Fortune and Saucer

Paid $2.09
Selling for $32

A traditional fortune tellers tea cup and saucer used for tasseography aka, reading tea leaves and fortune telling.

I’ve found and sold the saucer solo before, so was excited to see the full set on the Goodwill shelf waiting for me.
